Who Digs the Dunes at Cardiff State Beach!
This program explores the rare and harsh habitat known as the Sand Dunes. Join State Park Interpreter Sandy and Elayna from the Nature Collective to learn about a special project that was recently completed, called the Living Shoreline. Why would humans want to restore a dunes habitat? You will learn how the sand dunes are formed and how this habitat is important to creatures, including some who are threatened, like the Legless Lizard and the Western Snowy Plover. Finally, participants will gain an understanding of how the Sand Dunes can help to combat Sea Level rise.
